"I don't want to be too cynical , obviously Wlifried Zaha came out of an academy i produced and has done fabulous for the Crystal Palace, on his own merits and with the new ownership at Palace ",
He told talkSport.
"But i fell while this is good news for palace fans, what this is also about is price protection.
"Getting him back on a five-year contract, because i think he had three years left on his current one, will enhance the value Palace can demand for him.
"So while i think it's good news on one hand , it could also be the basis of commanding the right value for Wilfried Zaha, which is in the £70-80m bracket.
